more health-care workers who tended to a person hospitalized with H5N1 bird flu have revealed that they had respiratory symptoms after their exposures, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1kzk4rw00062e6b6gkz01gm@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            One health-care worker who had symptoms had what investigators consider high-risk contact with the patient, meaning they provided care before the hospital advised taking precautions such as wearing a mask when tending to the patient.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1kzk4rw00072e6biqxrr34q@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Three additional workers reportedly had low-risk contact with the patient after the hospital required precautions.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1kzk4rw00082e6b0mmhgwj2@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            None of these workers was tested at the time they experienced symptoms, the CDC&nbsp;reported Friday.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1kzk4rw00092e6b93uhdra3@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Before Friday\u2019s disclosure, two other health-care workers had been identified as having symptoms after caring for this patient, bringing the total number of workers with symptoms to six.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1kzk4rw000a2e6byddbjqie@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            To give an idea of the scope of the investigation, 18 health-care workers have been identified as having high-risk exposure to the patient, and 94 others had contact that was considered low-risk, the CDC said.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1kzk4rw000b2e6bbe4p73nr@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            The six health-care workers who fell ill did not have severe symptoms, and they have since resolved.&nbsp;One worker tested negative for influenza at the time of their illness.&nbsp;The other five will have their blood tested to see whether they have antibodies against the virus, which would show whether they had a past H5N1 infection, the CDC added.    <\/p>\n<div data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/factbox\/instances\/cm1l1i7yf00013b6mdcg2bo8q@published\" data-component-name=\"factbox\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" class=\"factbox_inline-small data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            It has been three weeks since the CDC and Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services announced that a person who had no contact with animals had tested positive for H5N1, the 14th&nbsp;human infection in the United States since April.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1kzk4rw000d2e6b7gtqqit6@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            The other 13 cases were&nbsp;in farm workers&nbsp;who had direct contact with infected dairy cows and&nbsp;chickens<strong>.<\/strong>&nbsp; The cause of the Missouri patient\u2019s infection in still under investigation, which is being led by the state, with assistance from the CDC.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1kzk4rw000e2e6bt1urlqqd@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            None of the people&nbsp;in the US<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>with a confirmed H5N1 infection&nbsp;is known to have infected other people. That would raise alarm because it would&nbsp;suggest that the virus was changing in ways that could allow it to more easily infect&nbsp;humans<strong>.<\/strong>    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1kzk4rw000f2e6bgiklz2jx@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            In other updates, the CDC said that it has developed a test for wastewater that can discriminate samples with H5 viruses from other types of influenza A.&nbsp; This will be particularly helpful as the US moves into flu season and influenza A becomes more common in wastewater.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1kzk4rw000g2e6bob3i4s0v@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            The CDC is reminding people:    <\/p>\n<div data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/list\/instances\/cm1kzk4xk000j2e6bduv5fk0w@published\" class=\"list \" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n<ul data-editable=\"items\" class=\"list__items list__items--ul\">\n<li data-editable=\"items.0.text\" class=\"list__item inline-placeholder\"><strong>Not to touch<\/strong>&nbsp;sick or dying animals, including wild and farmed birds and cows.<\/li>\n<li data-editable=\"items.1.text\" class=\"list__item inline-placeholder\"><strong>To avoid bedding and litter<\/strong>&nbsp;of animals suspected of having H5N1 influenza.<\/li>\n<li data-editable=\"items.2.text\" class=\"list__item inline-placeholder\"><strong>Not to drink raw milk<\/strong>.
